As commercial interior designers, we are involved in every phase of construction or remodelling of a project from conceptual design to implementation. Our aim is to maximise staff productivity and the convenience of the public utilising the space.
The health, safety and well-being of all users of the structure are paramount. On more complex issues, we collaborate with specialists such as architects, structural engineers, contractors, specialist lighting designers, commercial kitchen consultants, acoustics engineers and so forth to ensure a professional execution that meets with British conformity to regulations of all aspects of commercial interior design.
Given the size and scale of commercial buildings, a holistic approach with an understanding of contextual design processes and working in sync with the interior architecture of a building is paramount. This creates a sense of belonging and integration. To that end, having a clear understanding of behavioural psychology (human responses shaped by the surrounding environment) is one way of creating a multi-sensory environment where occupants can forget inhibitions and positively connect with their surrounding. Moreover, finding a balance between positive and negative space with the negative space being the internal structure of a building.
All things considered, a seamless and harmonious adaptive re-use of space can be successfully executed by linking a proposed new design scheme to the pre-existing interior architecture.
HEALTH & SAFETY
Over and above aesthetics, our primary focus is the health, safety and welfare of all occupants, staff and the general public utilising the space. Another fundamental factor focuses on fire prevention and protection measures. As commercial designers, we give priority to strategic spatial planning that allows the provision of means of escape in case of fire (emergency exits). All fabrics and materials specified and supplied by us meet with stringent British FR regulations and BS Crib5 standards as specified by the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (RRFSO).
A designer’s decisions can affect the health and safety of all those involved in internal structural works of a building and those who use, maintain, refurbish and eventually demolish it. A risk assessment eliminates foreseeable health and safety risks to anyone affected by the project.
We communicate, cooperate and coordinate with any other designers so that all designs are compatible and ensure health and safety, both during the project and beyond and all contractors (including the principal contractor), to take account of their knowledge and experience of interior structural alterations.
